In August of 2004 I had an idea to open Kim’s Closet Resale & Gift Shop, located in Otto Plaza on Old Hwy 21. Keeping it in the family, we all worked hard to make the shop succeed. My goal was to have a big variety of merchandise at yard sale prices. Which led to my motto, “Kim’s Closet – Where everyday is a yard sale.” I wanted to share my love for yard sales and discount shopping by opening my closet to everyone all year round.
In October of ’04, I was offered a position at a well-established company and accepted the offer. I tried to keep the shop going while maintaining a full time position, but found it impossible at the time. Sadly I had to close the closet doors.
In February 2008, I was given the opportunity to re-open Kim’s Closet. So hangers started flying. I loved the original shop, but my new location is better than ever. We are in a new building unit with ten times the parking spaces, and only 2 blocks south of the previous location. I’m hoping to re-establish my regular customers and welcome new ones as well. With the new Kim’s Closet, I am still fortunate enough to keep it in the family with the help of my wonderful daughters and family members once again.
In this day in time, with the high gas prices causing inflation everywhere, it has encouraged me to re-open with affordable prices for the community. Offering new, like-new, and gently used items, I like to keep my inventory fresh with various items for the whole family. Being blessed with donations, I like to give back to the community, so after 30 days of shelf time I pull those items and donate to various charities and drop boxes. I am trying a new avenue this time around and will have items for sale online where they can be shipped to you or put on will-call for in store pick-up. Again, thinking about those gas prices. I will ship cheapest rate and actual postage only, no handling fees or hidden charges.
Thank you for your time and please stop by online or in-person to browse at your leisure. No pushy sales people at the Closet, just friendly helpful ones.
